(New York City) – Ever attentive to his stomach’s desires, Micah Laaker spent last evening at the New York Chocolate Show 2000. The show, billed as the unification of "around forty American and international exhibitors, artists, detailers, pastry chefs, master chocolate makers and writers," proved quite overrated. Mr. Laaker noted several sacrilegious uses of chocolate, including a grossly anatomically incorrect model of an eagle and a tattered chocolate beaded dress that appeared to have spent several decades in a musty trunk.

Mr. Laaker and his date were then marauded by an overly large (seemingly due to chocolate consumption) booth attendant. This gentleman began hawking his chocolate-stirring wares and, noting their age (and thus youthful "hip" factor), encouraged them to visit his Internet-based chocolate wonderland: chocolatesomethingorother.com.

(As one can read, Mr. Laaker didn’t bother to commit the URL to memory.)

The evening ended with a jovial mockery of "Magda, The Chocolate Reader™," a New Age guru able to read an individual’s future from the settlings of chocolate. The booth had attracted several lonely spinsters, eager to glean their upcoming achievements from a bohemian seer in front of a cocoa-crusted Tupperware bowl.
